Do you know any man who has been acting strangely for some time? Is he beginning to forget some important things and you think he is not himself anymore? If you notice that he has been more invested in alcohol than before, it might be that he is dealing with an alcohol addiction situation.
In this post, you will learn some of the common signs that a man is addicted to alcohol.
Taking excessive amounts of alcohol
One of the most obvious signs is when he takes much alcohol regularly. Depending on the man, he might have a few bottles per day not minding where they are, or what they have to do.
If some of them are aware that they have some underlying medical problems, they will still take alcohol.
The reason why alcohol addicts continue to take alcohol is that they want to feel the same way they did when they started consuming alcohol.
Common physical signs
Another way to know when someone is addicted to alcohol is when you begin to observe some physical signs.
Some of these physical signs are blurry vision, slurred speech, hangovers, alcohol poisoning, slow reaction times, etc.
Other physical signs which might be long-term include sexual dysfunction, malnutrition, dementia, seizures, weakened immune system, and high blood pressure, amongst others.
Aversion for social gatherings except if there’s alcohol
Many alcohol addicts might not be interested in social gatherings especially if they are not serving alcohol there. They might feel that these gatherings are a waste of time because they could have used that period to take some bottles of alcohol undisturbed.
Hence, they are likely to avoid some social gatherings except if alcohol is guaranteed there.
Withdrawal symptoms
Another way to spot an alcohol addict is when they exhibit some withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms are mostly obvious when they are away from alcohol for a long time.
Some of these symptoms include irritability, anxiety, mood changes, heart palpitations, seizures, hallucinations, insomnia, headaches, hyperthermia, etc.
